Over the past few weeks, WomenVenture has had many opportunities to speak out in support of women entrepreneurs in the Twin Cities. Here’s a recap of the great conversations and community action legislation that we’ve had the pleasure of taking part in.
Urban Initiative Program Loan Legislation Discussion
On March 16th, WomenVenture Executive Director, Elaine Wyatt, and loan client, Maelei Catt, of Creations Cabinets testified in support of an increase in funding for the Urban Initiative Program. WomenVenture is a Program Certified Partner of the Urban Imitative Program, which supports the growth of minority owned and operated businesses and creation of jobs in low-income areas of the Twin Cities. Eileen Fisher Fashion Show Benefits WomenVenture
On March 19th, WomenVenture Executive Director, Elaine Wyatt, was invited to introduce WomenVenture at the Eileen Fisher fashion show at Macy’s in downtwon Minneapolis. In addition, WomenVenture received 10% of all sales of Eileen Fisher products that day! This isn’t the first time that Eileen Fisher has shown great support to our mission and vision. This past winter, we received a grant of $25,000 for general operating funds from Eileen Fisher, Inc. We are so thankful for their generous support! Women of Color Opportunities Act (WOCOA) Press Conference
On March 23rd, WomenVenture Executive Director, Elaine Wyatt, and client, Natalia Hals, owner of A Woman’s Design, took part in a press conference in support of the Women of Color Opportunities Act. WOCOA is a multi-pronged approach to increase opportunities for Minnesota’s women and girls of color to succeed and prosper—in school, in the workforce, and in small business ownership. Spearheading the event was Minnesota Representative Rena Moran, who is passionate about creating more opportunities for women and girls of color in Minnesota. She recognizes both the essential part they play in the economic and social fabric of Minnesota and also the challenges and disparities they face when it comes to success.

Aging But Dangerous Radio Show
On March 26th, WomenVenture Executive Director, Elaine Wyatt, will be interviewed on the KLBB AM 1220 radio show: Aging But Dangerous. This program inspires, empowers, and challenges women over 50 to live an Aging But Dangerous life through refreshing honesty, unexpected points of view and edgy humor.
