WomenVenture loan officer, Talia King has more than 20 years of experience as a mortgage professional with In-depth knowledge, understanding, and experience in documentation analysis, regulatory mortgage compliance, pipeline management, origination, and mortgage lending operations.
Before joining WomenVenture, she served in multiple capacities within the lending field including processing, underwriting analysis, and end-to-end closing, to ensure loan salability for relevant government-sponsored enterprises. Additionally, Talia oversaw investor requirements, products, and loan programs for both conventional and government mortgage transactions as well as community down-payment assistance programs.
In September of 2021, after experiencing the impact of both a pandemic and deeply painful and disturbing civil unrest Talia decided she needed to do more. She intentionally sought out opportunities that would allow for a more personal and positive impact on people from marginalized and underserved communities. King joined a local community-based non-profit as a Financial Wellness Coach and obtained her HUD (Housing and Urban Development) Housing Counselor Certification serving clients facing eviction and foreclosure and coached individuals on budgeting, saving, and credit restoration.
Talia is an advocate for reducing the nationally leading homeownership disparity gap right here in Minnesota. She co-facilitated financial literacy and family stabilization classes for various community organizations serving clients in workforce programs and conducted analysis and reporting that provide down payment assistance to support building generational wealth through homeownership. “My mother is an entrepreneur and real estate broker; it was truly engrained in me from childhood,” said King, “I always joke that I grew up in empty houses and cut my teeth on home renovation projects.” In addition to her work with WomenVenture Talia is a licensed residential realtor and holds current memberships with the Saint Paul Area Association of Realtors (SPAAR) and the National Association of Realtors (NAR). King also serves on the SPAAR Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee who has sponsored countless events and initiatives across the state serving and supporting all communities and demographics. She has an incredible passion for first-time homeowners and offers individualized preparation services.
“I am a legacy enthusiast and believe wholeheartedly in building generational wealth. Every new connection is valued and treated equally with decency, attention, care, and respect. “
Throughout her time as a realtor and entrepreneur, King has learned that the income gap is real and is a key contributor and barrier leaving many communities at an incredible generational disadvantage.
What excites her most about working with WomenVenture clients is the ability to support positive change, advancement, and empowerment at its foundation. “I believe heavily in the spirit of entrepreneurship and not accepting limitations on what one can do, be, or have. WomenVenture is an empowering organization that is equally supportive of entrepreneurs and business development and growth through its people, network, training programs, and lending opportunities. WomenVenture provides access and paves a way all at the same time and that is something that makes me smile with gratitude for the opportunity to participate, join forces and contribute.”
