Biography
A California native, Dove Salvatierra graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s in literature from St. Catherine University in 2017. During their time at St. Kate’s, Dove was a recipient of the Bonnie Jean Kelly Award for excellence in Scholarly Writing and became an honorary member of the Sigma Tau Delta Writing Society. Dove continued their education at Hamline University, where they received an MFA in Creative Writing, graduating with honors and as a recipient of the Herman W. Block Scholarship (awarded by the incomparable Kate DiCamillo).
Dove is a passionate advocate and has worked in the non-profit sector for many years in a variety of community advocacy and education roles. They have also taught high school and middle school children, and TA’d courses at their alma mater. Their passions in the workplace are broad and varied, but they have a particular interest in community advocacy, education, and development with an emphasis on social justice and radical anti-racism.
When Dove is away from work, they are a published young adult author, musician, and artist. They enjoy fiber works and spending time with their long-term partner, dog, and cats in their North End, Saint Paul neighborhood.
